What We Offer

Why?

As I entered my late twenties I came to what I'd call a crossroad. All of a sudden the things I used to do I no longer had a desire for and I began to see how far behind I was on the things I should have been doing. I was nowhere near the goals I had once set. Events began to occur forcing me to mature and change in ways I wasn't sure I was capable of.  I knew a change was needed, but I wasn’t sure where to even start. During this time I also began to see that the people I had around me were not there for my good. They were my "friends" but they were not helping me grow or produce any fruit (can you really call that a friend). It seemed as if a million life lessons were hitting me at once and I was in desperate need of some form of outlet or release. I wanted someone to talk to  but I was not necessarily looking for someone to agree and make me feel worse about my situation. I most certainly did not want them coming back and rubbing it in my face on a later date. Keeping your emotions locked inside can increase anxiety and stress levels, contribute to mental health issues, and feed our cycles of addiction. It can be difficult to allow feelings to come to the surface especially when we are going through tough times. Personally, it just felt easier to keep it all inside as opposed to addressing it head on. Many of us grew up viewing pain as a weakness. I know now that acknowledging and addressing our pain is actually a strength and can be used as a form of empowerment.Allowing ourselves to release emotions takes courage. So, here I am 4 years later, opening the door for both you and I. Safe Expression is here to provide an outlet for All people to open up, no ridicule, criticism, rejection, or judgement included.
